I am so happy to be able to provide you with a review of the Koldtec Ice Towel.  I was sent the ice towel in exchange for an honest review and I couldn’t have asked for a better product to try out.  As someone with Multiple Sclerosis and heat intolerance, keeping cool is so important for managing my symptoms. I have tried ice towels in the past, ones that you keep in the freezer, so I am comparing this ice towel to ones that I have used previously.

About Koldtec

Koldtec is a Canadian company, with the ice towels being designed and made in Toronto.  Koldtec pride themselves in providing ice towels that are soft, sustainable and eco-friendly to keep you cool during hot days, sport, hot flushes and/or times of heat intolerance.

The Koldtec Ice Towel

The ice towel uses ‘FlexIce’, which claims to keep you 5x times cooler than ordinary ‘wet’ cooling towels, with each strip in the towel keeping you cool for at least an hour.  It is a piece of organic sport bamboo fabric designed to be worn around your neck so that the cooling ice can target your pulse points there. The Koldtec ice towel has a hands-free design, with a little loop on the underside to keep it secure. It comes in an insulated travel tube that allows you to carry the ice towel around until you are ready to use it, with it staying cool for up to three hours.

My Thoughts

I really like the ethos of the company and the fact that their ice towel is sustainable and so soft.  As someone who was born in Canada and lived 20 minutes away from Toronto as a child, I am also pleased to be endorsing a Canadian company 🙂

I’ve tried the ice towel a few times now and I have to say that I am genuinely impressed. Getting the ice towel ready to use was very simple – I soaked the accompanying FlexIce strip in water for a couple of minutes and then placed into the freezer in order to make the ice.  After a couple of hours of freezing, I slipped the strip into the pocket and was ready to go.

Inserting the FlexIce strip was easy

I’ve used the towel on various occasions: at the gym, where I do light activity on the cross trainer and weight machines, whilst sitting outside in the sun and when experiencing a hot flush due to my hormone levels being out of whack.  The ice towel felt lovely and cooling and definitely helped me to tolerate the increased heat in my body.  It never became wet or soggy, the loop helped it to not slip around and the towel actually stayed cold for a good couple of hours.  Repeating the processes for refreezing was simple and I tend to keep the ice strip in the freezer now until I need it.

I would recommend the ice towel for…

  • People with chronic health conditions who suffer from heat intolerance
  • Keen exercisers who want to keep cool
  • People who have hot flushing as a side effect of any medication that they are on (it would have been good when I was on Tecfidera for my MS)
  • Ladies who have heat intolerance/flushing due to hormone fluctuations

It is a shame that it is currently just a towel – in the future, I feel that bands to wrap around your wrists and ankles would be a great addition, as well as a cooling pillow and ice vest.

Where Can I Get One?

Koldtec Ice Towels are available direct from Koldtec’s website.  This is the best option if you reside in North America, with free shipping.

If you’re in the UK, Koldtec ice towels are available from Optimal Wellbeing, again with free delivery.

Koldtec do deliver worldwide, but it is worth noting that your county may add customs charges to your order.

I really hope that this review was useful to you. I genuinely couldn’t find anything to fault the ice towel, so if keeping cool is as important to you as it is to me, I recommend you check them out!

Till next time

  1. I’d never heard of Koldtec before, and I’ve never had an ice towel so I didn’t even know how they worked with removing the inside. How have I not had one of these in my life? This would be so good, I could do with it over my head at the moment for this incessant headache. Just having a look at the Optimal Wellbeing link now as I would quite like to try one of these. Very nicely reviewed, Jen!
