Hi everybody, happy July!

I can’t quite believe we are already past mid-year and it has been 5 1/2 months since my HSCT for MS.  Apologies for the lateness of this update, I seem to be busy at the minute with the kids’ end of term activities (I managed to make it out for their sports day yesterday, which was lovely and sunny).  I hope that everyone is managing well in this heat, I have been using my Koldtec cooling scarf and it has been really helping – see my review here.

I have uploaded a video on my YouTube channel and will pop it here; I am basically the same as last month, though my eyebrows and eyelashes are starting to fall out again.  In the video I explain that I am going to mention it to my GP next week to ask for a blood test – apparently, thyroid issues can cause hair loss and are not unheard of after going through HSCT.

I am going to see the Neuro physio on Friday and I am really hoping that she can give me some advice about the spasticity that I am suffering from, as I would say that is the thing about my MS that is affecting me most; it is so painful and limiting and really affects my sleep.  I would definitely say that it improves when I take magnesium tablets (I really noticed when they ran out!) and magnesium cream on my legs, so I am continuing with those too.

In my next video, I will hopefully have the results of the MRI that I am having later this month – I am really hoping that it shows no new inflammation since the HSCT.  Fingers crossed!

So, without further ado, here’s my video!

Wishing everybody a happy and healthy (and cool, if the heat affects you) July.

Till next time

  1. I think getting your thyroid checked again is a good idea. It just frustrates me how poor thyroid testing in the UK is, which usually just relies on TSH. With the possible menopause alongside MS, have they suggested a recent bone density check? I hope the neuro physio is helpful, and it’s very exciting you’re hoping to get back to working, this time for yourself. I think that’s a great idea to give you something to aim for, but please, please go super slowly because you’re going through a heck of a lot. ♥
Sending hugs, Jen. Hang in there.
PS. You may not feel like ‘you’, but I think you look gorgeous & you rock!
    Caz xxxx

    1. I will go slowly Caz 🙂 It is hard as my brain is ready but my body seems reluctant! They haven’t requested a bone density check but I will be sure to mention it to my GP, sounds a good idea. Hoping you are well my lovely friend xxx
